I came across a comment the other day under a post by one of the big internet “gurus”…

…and it stopped me in my tracks.

So much so I screenshot it to share with you (blurring out any identifying elements).

Now I’m not here to bash the person who wrote this (we’ve all had weird mental blocks pop up before doing something new), but my goodness… there’s so much going on here I don’t know where to start.

And what might surprise you is this isn’t the first time I’ve heard it.

In fact, over the last 25 years, I’ve had versions of this question pop up from countless students and prospective students – usually before they’ve even taken the first step in starting a business or project.

They’re worried about what might happen if they succeed.

“If I make too much money, will it be taken away from me?”
“What if I can’t handle the admin?”
“What if I mess up the legal/tax bits and get into trouble?”
“What if I earn more than my partner/family/friends and they judge me for it?”
“What if I make so much I have to register for VAT…let me just say below that threshold”

I actually believe these aren’t really tax worries.

These are success mindset worries. And they are 100% valid. But they don’t have to stop you.

Because let’s be completely honest here.

You can’t optimise your tax situation on £0 income.

You can’t outsource bookkeeping, hire help, or get expert advice… if your business never gets off the ground in the first place.

And more importantly:

You’re not going to accidentally wake up a millionaire one day.

Creating a successful online course takes intentional effort. It doesn’t just “happen to you.”

Which means… every step of the way, you’ll have time to learn, prepare, and usu.

You can have the perfect idea. The right tools. The best strategy.
