In case you’ve been hiding under a rock (or sensibly avoiding screens and social media), ChatGPT recently updated its image generator and it’s fabulous.
(Almost) as good as Canva but without having to do any thinking or faffing about.
So, yesterday afternoon, I set her (let’s admit she’s a woman – she’s so good at things) a task – “Let’s brainstorm some new ad image ideas”.
And off she went!
Serving up lovely images, clever layouts, actual usable stuff.
And then after a bit… well… she lost the plot.
The designs got weird. The words went all… wibbly.
Random spellings, strange layout choices, and an energy that felt like she’d had a few too many at the office Christmas do and decided to “have a go” at the brand kit.
Here’s just one example (there were a LOT) – the upside down book… the bonker layout on the headline…’sins up’ ‘uurs’ and ‘werinars’ are particular favourites on this one ad 😉

No matter how much I tweaked the prompt, begged, rephrased, offered virtual tea — nothing.
So I decided to take a different approach.
I gave up.
I went and did something completely different (paid some invoices – oh what fun).
And then this morning I tried again. Same prompt. First time. Perfect output.
And it hit me – the lesson isn’t just about AI.
It’s about us.
Sometimes we’re just… tired.
Pushing through won’t help. The words won’t land. The ideas won’t gel. Even ChatGPT needs a nap, apparently.
So if you’re knee-deep in course creation and suddenly questioning everything from your font choice to your entire existence… maybe it’s not a crisis.
Maybe you’re just tired.
So change focus and (the key here!) don’t give up…just come back to it the next day (or a few hours later).
Just like my lovely AI assistant – you might then get it just right (see below… I’ll let you know if this one works once I’ve tested it but she’s got the spellings and design exactly how I wanted them 🙂)
