First of all some breaking news – Google’s just announced some really exciting updates to Google Bard (think of it as their ChatGPT contender)!

One of the things I find most frustrating about AI?

Its occasional hallucinations – spitting out facts that aren’t, well, facts.

But Bard’s latest feature is, in my opinion, a game-changer!

Now, there’s a lightning-fast way to double-check its output.

I dove right into testing it this morning to see how it could be helpful to us all, and it’s impressive!

In fact I was so excited I recorded this short video to show you it in action: 🎥 Google Bard Fact Checking.

It’s going to be so useful in so many ways – I’ll keep you posted.

Last week I ran a live online presentation about Artificial Intelligence for The Allbright.

This is the women’s only club I’ve been a member of for a few years which now has a global membership for it’s online platform.

I first suggested the idea of sharing my experience with AI back in March because I felt strongly it could be very helpful to other members.

So I was excited when it finally happened!

Although when I say “excited” I also mean “TERRIFIED!”.

If you’ve been reading my emails for a while, then you’ll know how difficult I find live public speaking.

At one time in my career, it was pretty much a NO-NO and I did everything possible to avoid it.

And even though I finally broke through that mental barrier a few years ago, when I started doing some events live on stage… I still tend to avoid it as much as possible.

But I’m delighted to say that my talk for The Allbright went rather well – the audience was so kind and attentive – and, as you know, I’m excited about how AI can make life easier for us when used correctly.

And the feedback afterwards was incredible!

Comments such as: “This is amazing. The hours it will save me!”, “Very helpful! Mindblowing even”, “This was such an informative session, really appreciate! Thank you so much Heloise”.

With AI so fresh in my mind, I thought today it might be a good opportunity to tell you a new (ish) and currently free AI tool that I think you might like.

Certainly, it’s worth trying out, because it could make so many tasks easier and quicker than ever before.

Introducing Claude.AI

Claude.ai is a (free) AI tool that can research and write content, like ChatGPT, but which can also do summaries of very long pieces of text.

Its training data is pretty recent, going up to early 2023, so you can get more up-to-date facts, statistics and information to use in your course material (or whatever else you wish to use it for – the choices are endless!)

As a comparison, ChatGPT has a cut-off point in September 2021.

Crucially, Claude gives you up to 75,000 words as an input limit.

This means you can paste entire chapters, modules and even books into the AI.

You can also upload multiple documents in formats like PDF and text CSV and it will be able to read them.

One big benefit of this is that it can digest a whole text and then summarise the crucial points in it for you.

For me this is really exciting.

For instance, I put one of our new courses into it and it came up with a summary with bullet points like this:

So this form of AI is something that could work well alongside ChatGPT, giving you even more scope and power.

For instance, you could ask it: “Please write me a [insert number] word article on [insert topic]. Use a friendly and compelling tone.”

And it will produce a long piece for you.

Or you can use it for analysis and summaries like this:

“I have attached a research study.

Please do the following using a clear, easy to understand and engaging writing style. 1) Boil it down into one simple short paragraph 2) List all of the key points using bullet points 3) Create a summary of this study”

And, hey presto, hours of painstaking reading and research is done for you.

You can also get it to formulate logical arguments, by using this prompt:

“Please follow these steps:

1. Write three topic sentences arguing for {{STATEMENT}}.

2. Write three topic sentences arguing against {{STATEMENT}}.

3. Write an article by expanding each topic sentence from Steps 1 and 2, and adding a conclusion to synthesize the arguments. Please enclose the essay in tags.”

This could be great for constructing speeches and presentations.

You can also use it to write descriptions of a product or course that you can use for advertising and other promotional content.

For instance: “Summarise this course, with all the main points and beneficial information.”
