Over the past month, I’ve given you some fantastic free resources even if I say so myself ;-).
I’ve shared valuable trainings and free reports.
I’ve given you access to a new AI tool AND I’ve given you insider secrets.
But guess what?
The emails that get opened the most are when I am suffering.
For example, when I recently wrote to you about my terrible tooth pain or my stomach drop moment… more people opened my emails!
Yes, my readers seem to love it when I’m in pain! 😉
Which all boils down to this: emotional honesty gets attention. And do you know what?
That’s exactly the lesson I want to pass on today.
It makes sense that we, as humans, respond to emotion more than fact.
Every. Single. Time.
When I teach course creators how to create their course content and any of the sales material or social media content around it, one of the biggest things I say is: drop the jargon, and start showing up as a human.
Even if you’re shy (I am an introvert).
Even if you’re not “bold” or “brave” or a natural storyteller.
Even if you worry your life isn’t interesting enough.
You don’t need to be a drama queen to connect.
You just need to be real.
Here are 3 ways to bring more of you into whatever you are creating.
1. Share a struggle – something you’ve overcome, or still battle with. It makes you relatable (and more trustworthy than the ‘flawless’ expert).
2. Let your students/readers in on the why – why you’re doing what you do, who you want to help, and what really matters to you (and always try and relate it back to them).
3. Speak in your actual voice – not corporate buzzwords or what you think you should sound like. Be you (I promise, that’s what people are craving, especially in this world of cookie-cutter AI content).
If this is something you’d like me to cover in more detail – please just comment below and tell me what you find tricky – I’m sure I can help you come up with a solution!
